Opposition to Heller and Support for Gun Control is Like Racism

I think that's the short version of the 'argument' here, courtesy of one of the wackier Volokh bloggers.

From Judgeship to Deanship

Dean Levi (Duke) reflects on the transition, one he has made, by all the evidence I have, quite successfully.

Bill Treanor Named New Georgetown Dean

Georgetown Law Center has announced the appointment of William Treanor as its new dean.  Treanor joined the Fordham faculty in 1991 and became dean in 2002.  In addition to being a highly successful academic administrator, he is a notable legal historian.  Interestingly, this move adds value to Fordham as well because it suggests that those in the elite law school set now treat Fordham Law as a fellow member.  And frankly, rightfully so.

Here.   Be sure to read the introductory caveats.  Numbers are a crude, bot not useless, measure.  But other metrics--like clerkships and alumni in law teaching--make fairly clear that the ordinal ordering is misleading in many cases.

Nelson is New Suffolk Dean; Steinbock Named Interim Dean at Toledo

Today is a (relatively) busy day on the law school dean front. As Kim Krawiec reported over at The Faculty Lounge, Hofstra Professor Camille Nelson was named the new dean at Suffolk Law. She is the second Critical Race Theorist to be named dean in the last month (the other being Rachel Moran at UCLA). Meanwhile, the University of Toledo named Associate Dean Daniel Steinbock as Interim Dean for the next year.

"Foundations of Religious Liberty: Toleration or Respect?" on SSRN

For those interested, this is the final version, which will appear in a symposium issue of the San Diego Law Review on "Freedom of Conscience."  Other contributors to this issue will include Michael Perry, Kent Greenawalt, Michael White, Andrew Koppelman, and Nomi Stolzenberg, among others.  Larry Alexander and Steven Smith organized a very productive conference on the subject this past April in San Diego.
