As I noted previously, there are many people unhappy with Governor Chris Christie's new proposal to merge Rutgers-Camden into Rowan University. Folks at Rutgers-Camden Law are making their displeasure known. Students spoke out against the merger Monday and Rutgers-Camden Dean Ray Solomon commented that "the name of Rutgers is crucial to this law school and it is part of what has made us an outstanding school. It is necessary to continue (the name) and I will continue to advocate that as long as I’m able.”
Across campus, Janet Golden - a history professor at Rutgers-Camden - has taken the rhetoric up a notch, stating that "lots of lawsuits will follow" such a merger because Rutgers-Camden have tenure exclusively with Rutgers.
A nice graphic showing the proposed restructuring is here.
