This time it was reported to the ABA and US News, and would have affected the ranking results. And still U.S. News underranks Illinois relative to the quality of the faculty!

ADDENDUM: One puzzle about Hastings is why, in recent years, they've been losing almost all their top public law scholars, and mostly to peer, rather than clearly better, schools (Amar and Bhagwat to UC Davis, Leib to Fordham, and now Massey to New Hampshire). Anyone know? Just coincidence?

U.S. News to Continue to Screw Over Colleges with Existing Ranking Formula
IHE has the details, though it certainly does no credit to the judgment of admissions directors that they also object to the only part of the college ranking formula that keeps the results tethered to the real world at all, namely, the reputation survey.

ABA Reversing Itself on Demand for Better Employment Data?
That's the contention of this piece, which is puzzling in light of this summer's announcement. (Let me know if you spot an ABA statement/response on this issue.) A very striking line from the preceding NLJ item: "Since the turn of the century, just two-thirds of all ABA-approved law school graduates obtained jobs requiring bar passage within nine months of graduation." Mr. McEntee, one of the authors, confirms that this data comes from NALP sources.
