Although the furloughs definitely hurt--the law school was left well-positioned by the prior administration and the current University administration to move forward. We have record-levels of scholarship money available for students. We have a responsible budget with flexibility to absorb current cuts. We continue to be very active in the entry-level and lateral hiring markets and are working to ensure that any revenue shortfalls do not affect the scholarly life of our faculty or students. All in all, nobody is happy about the legislature's decision to place the burden of the budget shortfall on public employees and students, but the law school in particular is moving forward in all of its plans.
