Kim Lane Scheppele (comparative law, law and society) at the University of Pennsylvania Law School has accepted a senior offer from Princeton University, where she will become Director of the Program on Law and Public Affairs, previously run by Christopher Eisgruber, who is now Provost.
Although Penn scored a big hiring coup this past year in recruiting Stephen Perry (torts, jurisprudence) back from NYU, they have also suffered several (actual or potential) senior losses now, in addition to Scheppele: Edward Rubin became Dean at Vanderbilt; Geoffrey Hazard's phased retirement concludes this fall, and he is moving to the University of California at Hastings; and the legal historian Bruce Mann now has an offer from Harvard Law School, where his wife, Elizabeth Warren (bankruptcy, commercial law) already teaches.
